Port Alberni has always been a special place for me - spending formative years growing up here and being a part of such a solid community. Bomber Boulders started as a dream that felt far away, and then all of a sudden, was right in front of me. It felt like a calling I couldn’t turn away from. I could actually have a hand in building community & combine it with my passion for the outdoors. Anyone who knows me would agree: I love people, I love community & I love being outside. It was a no-brainer.
My favourite ways to get outside are camping, climbing, hiking, skiing and surfing. I am truly honoured to be able to grow climbing and outdoor sports in our small but mighty town.

I guess you could say my climbing “career” began here on Vancouver Island. The stunning alpine rock and ice climbs up Arrowsmith, the amazing quality limestone at Horne Lake, or the boulders at Sutton Pass and the Nanaimo River, Vancouver Island really has something for every type of climber.
Creating a fun and unique space for the climbers of Port Alberni and the west coast is so needed. The potential for future outdoor development in this area is strong, and we hope Bomber Boulders can be the catalyst that brings together all of the current and future climbers in a fun and healthy way.

Our Story
Deon and Kayla are passionate about anything that gets their bodies moving and outside.
Kayla & Deon’s Story together started in a bouldering gym in Nanaimo (The Bloc Bouldering) where they met and pretty instantly knew they had met their ultimate adventure partner. Pushing & supporting each other always in their adventures & life.
Climbing - playing one of the largest roles in their lifestyles. They have climbed in many incredibly beautiful places with new objectives & travel always in mind whether for climbing, skiing or surfing.
They have now taken on Bomber Boulders Climbing Centre together, with the desire to share their passion for climbing & building a strong community - in their words “the magic of climbing.”
